 Little Olympia touches Little Athletics

Little Olympia touches Little Athletics

24/07/2008 1:16:00 AM
A TOUCH of Olympia hit the Ballarat Little Athletics yesterday.

The Victorian Little Athletics Association has organised a baton relay to travel to eight different Victorian regions.

Each region will hold the baton for a week before handing it on and the association is hoping everyone gets involved.

The relay is hoping to build further interest for the Beijing Olympics that begins in less than three weeks.

With the Olympics so close, the popularity of athletics has boosted and will continue to do so when the Games are over and the Australian athletics season begins in October.

The relay will also be a highlight for kids that compete and train in athletics all year round.

Ballarat will hand the baton over to Ararat on Sunday at the Ararat's regional meet.
