AUSTAR Arena is on the brink of keeping the Lexton Plains Football Netball League grand final.
The LPFNL considered moving the grand final to another venue unless an upgrade of the court was completed.
Netball Victoria will visit Ballarat tomorrow and inspect the court to decide if repairs can take place on the surface.
If it is approved, the LPFNL and the Central Highlands Netball League grand finals will not change locations.
"We want to get the okay for it to be right this year, it is minor work," North Ballarat Sports Club chief executive officer Mark Patterson said.
"A plan is established for major works, we need to build a new court."
Patterson estimated a new netball court would be built in January and February while AUSTAR's football surfaces were also being rebuilt.
Logistics issues meant that trucks, machinery and equipment would be taken over the netball courts in the early part of rebuilding the football grounds.
"It is inappropriate to build a new court now," Patterson said.
"The AUSTAR Arena (plan) has been put to bed and there is a proprosal to rebuild the number two ground.
"It is a square on the court that has been roughed up and we estimate it will take $5000 worth of work.
"If we get the okay from Netball Victoria it will be done in the next week or two."
Work to the football surfaces will commence in October with the plan scheduled to be completed for a late start of the VFL season.
It is in North Ballarat's plans that the netball court construction will be a summer job.
LPFNL operations manager Aaron Nunn said he was hoping to have the temporary works done in time for all the grand finals.
"We have a back-up plan depending on how the BFL finals fall," he said.
"We were hoping AUSTAR will be available and are confident it will be but we were looking at the Eastern Oval.
"The short term resolution looks to be resolved and all parties are working together."
The CHNL had never planned to move its location but would not split up footballers and netballers.
"We were really hoping it would be okay, we hadn't approached anyone else _ it is always a smooth day (at AUSTAR)," CHFNL secretary Dianne Ryan said.
"We're a bit in limbo really until we know the definite date (of repairs being finished).
"Our clubs won't split netballers and footballers and have been very firm on that."
