KIRI Smart and Stephen Werner gave treading the boards a whole new meaning yesterday.
The duo took to the streets of Ballarat to promote the Art Gallery of Ballarat's exhibition The Naked and the Nude.
Their outfits of choice were sandwich boards bearing the images of a naked male and female.
City of Ballarat city marketing and business development director George Sossi said the response to the publicity stunt had been "overwhelming".
"We decided to take a different approach, a little tongue in cheek," Mr Sossi said.
"The response we got locally was really positive".
Mr Sossi said the revealing publicity campaign would soon head to Melbourne, subject to planning permits.
"In the next two weeks, we want to take it to Melbourne to Federation Square, Bourke St Mall, and Southern Cross Station," he said.
The Naked and the Nude is on show at the gallery until December 7.
Entry is adult $10, concession $6, and children under 16 free.
Meanwhile, the Ballarat Film Society will host a screening of Sirens at the gallery today at 3pm to tie in with the exhibition.
Tickets are free with exhibition entry.
