A WENDOUREE woman assaulted another female by throwing a garden gnome at her before using a rock to smash five windows, a court heard yesterday.
Sheree Hedges, 20, yesterday pleaded guilty in the Ballarat Magistrates Court to six charges including unlawful assault, criminal damage, and theft.
The court heard Hedges had attended a Rodier St address with a co-offender where she assaulted the woman with the garden gnome causing her to suffer abrasions and cuts to her stomach and hips.
Hedges then caused more than $600 damage by breaking windows at the house.
Police Prosecutor Senior Constable Steven Kent said Hedges and a co-offender had also broken into a house and shed in Errard St on January 31.
He said the pair slashed three flywire screens and stole bags of coins. Hedges told police she had burgled the house because she was bored.
Defence lawyer Mike Wardell said a report from UnitingCare showed Hedges was struggling with alcohol and other drugs, came from a dysfunctional family and had physical and intellectual disabilities.
Mr Wardell said Hedges was starting to build up support structures and urged the court to impose a community based order.
Magistrate Kay Robertson adjourned the matter to September 10 to receive further reports.
