Two years of study gone in laptop theft

22/07/2008 11:55:00 PM
KYLIE Bouker is ruing a missed opportunity to make copies of photos, university assignments and lecture notes on her laptop.

The 21-year-old second year University of Ballarat psychology student had her laptop _ and two years worth of work _ stolen during a robbery at her home on Monday.

Up to $12,000 worth of items were stolen, including a camera, iPod, a second laptop and jewellery.

Thieves broke in between 10am and 3.30pm by forcing a front door.

Ms Bouker said she took out a personal loan to buy the laptop for study, and now has to find money for another computer.

"I thought I had just misplaced it but then I came out into the lounge-room and also noticed a huge hole in the TV unit and went into my housemate's room and his laptop wasn't there," she said.

"My jewellery was gone, my watches were gone, my camera was gone, my iPod was gone.

"Everything that (they) could get a price was gone."

The two laptops stolen were a Hewlett-Packard and Dell widescreen.

"I have journal articles I need on it and some of that stuff has taken forever to download, along with hours and hours of studying, and I have an assignment I have to do right now," she said.

When cops nab the thieves, read them their rights, hang some 'Polish Salamis,' around their neck, and send them out to Antarctica. If that can't be done, than give those 50 strokes of 'Rottan' and tell them that 'Harana' is back in fashion. Robbing a student is like robbing their own family. Possibly thieves are in need of money for ‘Ganja!’ I would like to be their Magistrate.
